Storage grid 11.8 introduces support for metadata only storage nodes. These nodes only store object metadata increasing the metadata capacity and performance of the grid without increasing object data capacity. Any type of node appliance bare metal or VM can be a metadataon node but VM nodes are preferred. In this demo, I'll be installing a grid with three standard storage nodes and one metadata only node. When installing a new 11.8 grid. You can select the storage type when approving a storage node. In this demo grid, I'll select objects and metadata for my three storage nodes. And then I'll select metadata only for my metadata only node. You can also select metadata only when installing a storage node in an 11.8 grid via expansion. Now that my grid is installed, we can navigate to the nodes tab and see the metadata only node. Note that it's called out as metadata only and does not display any value for object data used. When we click on the node and go to the storage tab, we only see an object metadata graph. Going to a standard storage node, we see object data and object metadata. Thank you for watching.
Metadata-only nodes store object metadata, increasing metadata capacity and performance of the grid, without increasing object data capacity.
