BlueXP is now NetApp Console
Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
Hey, NetApp nation. Welcome back to the channel. Today, we're going to play a new game from NetApp, Rogue Ransomware. This is a tower defense game where you use NetApp technologies to protect planet data from ransomware scoundrels and general nerf herders are trying to steal and destroy your data. Let's get to it. So, what we do is we set up a route of defenses that protect our data. and it's done in waves. So, I've got my external defenses, which are my firewalls and perimeter security. But then at the core, protecting my data is NetApp technology. Let's dive into it. Okay, first round of attackers. These are scammers. My spam filters are blocking those guys. No problem. Didn't even get close to my data. Okay, here come fishers.can be more dangerous. They're trying to get a hold of credentials and they've got past my filters now. They're attacking the data directly.See that flash though? That was my NetApp technology kicking in. That's Cloud Secure. When that attack occurred, Cloud Secure gave me a recovery point that I can go back to after the fact. My admin came along here, wiped those guys out. Now I can use that recovery point that Cloud Secure created to restore my data to where it was before, mitigating any damage that was done. Not great that they got in, but Cloud Secure saved the day and I was able to restore the data. Okay, on to level two. Level two, things get more difficult, but I'm adding in more NetUP technology to protect. In this case, I'm adding in snap lock. This gives me a secondary copy of my data that's indestructible. Hopefully, I don't need it, though. All right. Scammers, fishers. My external defenses have that no problem. Here comes my regular administrator. Oh, wait. That's a compromise admin. That's not good. Oh, man. He's attacking the data. Come on. Where's my admin? Ah, the data's lost. That's not good. Okay, he's heading towards my backup copy. Here though, Snaplock has made sure that my secondary copy is indestructible, even from a compromised admin. My correct admin has come in, wiped them out. Now I can use Snap Lock to restore the data back from that recovery point. That was a close call. My data was almost destroyed there and almost lost. Luckily, snap lock saved the day and I was able to recover the data back to how it was before that compromised amid uh attack. Okay, with level three things are going to get reallyhard again. Luckily, I get a little more netup technology I can use. So, I've applied a multi- amen verify on the data planet itself. I think I should be in good shape here. Again, scammers, fishers, scammers are no problem. blocked easily. Here comes my regular admin. You guys are in trouble now. No, the admin's turned rogue. This is not good at all. Okay, luckily though, multi-admin verifies made sure that no single administrator can destroy that data. It's put him in a bubble. So, he needs another administrator before anything actually happens. But that other admin, he's a good guy. Takes out the rogue one. No damage done to the data whatsoever. There you go. I won the game. Hey, we here at NetApp, we know thatprotecting your data is not a game and we can't help you get a high score, but we can help you protect your data. Thanks so much for watching.
