In this video, I'll be demoing the SGF6112drive management guey new in storage grid 11.8. Unlike the other storage nodes in the storage grid appliance family, the SGF6112 does not use an eeries platform or centricity for drive management. The new drive management guey replaces the centricity system manager for the SGF6112 enabling drive management from the storage gridmanager interface. To access the drive management guey, navigate to the nodes page. Select the SGF6112 node and select the manage drives tab. Note that this guey is only available for SGF6112 nodes. The drive management guey consists of two tabs, layout and table. Both tabs display the same drives and support the same operations. Clicking on a drive displays the drive's drive group, capacity, firmware version, and other information. For each drive, you can turn the indicator light on, logically replace, and fail the drive. If a drive needs replaced, it must first be failed from the drive management guey.Make sure you understand the risks to data loss and potential impact to grid performance before failing a drive. Once you're sure, type fail and click fail the drive. Once the drive has failed, it will show as offline in the status category. Once the drive has been replaced, select the drive and select logically replace. This operation will rebuild the drive and sync it with the other drives in the node.As the drive is rebuilding, you can follow the progress from the guey. The drive management guey makes it simple to manage SGF-6112 drives in storage grid 11.8.
