Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
Hello and welcome to this short overview of the new dashboard in storage 117. As soon as you log in, you will notice a refresh multi-tab uh default dashboard. The overview tab contains highle information including the health status, data and metadata space utilization and grid information including the system ID. The performance tab. The performance tab gives you an overview of well there is no other way to say it the grid performance. Uh we will have some fun creating our own dashboard with whimsical naming later on. The storage tab contains a forecast of the data and metadataizationsome metrics on average object and metadata size and some jump points for tenant portals. The ILM engine is the beating heart of the grid and it gets its own dashboard. The LMQ and the LM scan period forecast are really good indicators of how busy a grid is. Since this is a lab instance, these graphs are mostly flat. Finally, the nodes tab monitors the status of the individual storage nodes, including node level views on performance and storage. The page also includes jump points to the actual nodes. The nodes page can be accessed outside of the dashboard as well and it has its own multi-tab navigation, but we will save that for another video. We will now go back to the dashboard and create our own. Go to actions and manage dashboards. On the first tab, we will put some widgets that are what I call important but boring stuff. I would like to know the health status of the grid, the grid serial number in case I need to open a ticket, the total number of objects in the grid, and an overview of the data and metadata. And let's call this uh tab IBB important but boring. And I will add a second tab for performance information uh which I will call pixie dust um because pixie dust is a key ingredient in technology. I will select the paints for S3 operations. and load balancer operations. If you are using platform services, so cloud mirroring for example, you can consider adding these graphs to the same tab or another tab if you prefer. support a maximum of 20 tabs in a dashboard uh dashboard. Um in this example, I will add one more graph which is the top five nodes by S3 operations. Finally, I will change the size of some of these graphs to end my customization with a flourish. This concludes the demonstration of the dashboard functionality in storage grid 117.
