Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
The adoption of as a service IT within the data center is transforming operations, simplifying architecture, planning and design while also accelerating new deployments and resource scaling. And with IT infrastructure and operations fueling modern business, simplifying and accelerating operations translates into greater business success. help me discuss the importance of consumption-based storage as a service. I'm joined by Suna Ralph, VP and GM for Keystone at NetApp. Suna, walk me through what you're hearing at NetApp and why your customers are interested in making the transition to storage as a service rather than buying storage the traditional way. >> Thank you, Scott. It's a really good trend that we are seeing um here at NetApp. Mostly the enterprise storage buyers historically have really dealt with expensive, disruptive, time-conuming technology refreshes which basically are causing you know hindrance to adoption of latest technologies. Now the big shift of an as a service model is coming in thanks to the cloud and thanks to the digital transformation that we are seeing in these uh in these technologies which will allow our customers to not have a technology lock in at the same time access to the latest storage technologies preserve investment and also adhere to much lower multi-year cost. I think that's what is causing this transition from going away from a traditional buying model to an as a service model. >> Yeah, absolutely. you know, uh, at ESG, we do a tremendous amount of research andsome of the big benefits we've seen from the as a service model are not just reduction to risk because, you know, essentially you're only paying for what you use. So, you get that risk out of future planning, but also accelerate its operations. All that stuff I kind of talked about at the beginning of moving faster. But, you know, there are lots of organizations out there, a lot of tech vendors that areidentifying this curve and this wave of increased interest in adoption. Uh, can you walk me through some of the ways that NetApp is different? So I think uh the way NetApp has actually changed the trajectory in terms of moving from a traditional on-prem infrastructure u to a cloud infrastructure by integrating with hyperscalers is one of a very big differentiator that NetApp brings to the table and especially the hybrid cloud model uh provides a seamless service between different assets. You can spread your spend between on-prem and cloud and look at a flexibility of leveraging this in a true digital transformation way. You can have a unique capability of leveraging the right location. At the end of the day, it's all about experience. So, NetApp gets that experience by while providing an ability for customers to decide whether they should choose an on-prem only or a cloud or a combination and spread the spend across uh these different uh silos ofinfrastructure.Yeah, that's one of the things that always stands out when I think about NetApp Keystone is that flexibility. IT decision makers, you know, they don't make resource decisions often in a vacuum. It's not an on- premises only decision or a cloud only decision. We live in a hybrid cloud world. So that flexibility is incredibly valuable. Iwant to get a little more focused though. You you've recently had anew release. What are some of the new capabilities orkey benefits that customers might expect when if they adopt Keystone?inits new form offers several key enhancements. I would like to stress on two important ones which basically differentiates us from the rest of the vendors out there. One is the one subscription across clouds. So Keystone delivers an operational and a subscription model that's optimized for multicloud IT environments. You can actually include your on-prem and cloud storage with major providers like AWS, Azure and Google. IT organizations can look at reallocation. they can look at reallocating their spend if they feel that they are on the journey to transforming to cloud and move their data from on-prem to the cloud by keeping the spend constant across the board. So which basically differentiates um you know us from the rest of the other vendors who are offering this as a service model. Secondly, uh we have actually integrated a couple of cloud products like the CVO and the CBS which is the cloud volumes on and the NetApp cloud backup services which are two major capabilities that customers can use to reallocate through a digital wallet which is uh completely transformational. You don't really have to have someone come in and pitch. you can basically have an online ability to order for additional capacity as you need when you need and pay only for thatportion of the storage. So thisthese are few aspects of it which basically gives the flexibility and freedom especially everything managed through a single invoice and keeping the costs constant. Scott >> often you wedelude ourselves into thinking that we can plan five years out in advance for every location. Businesses change, organ customer demands change, application needs change and the flexibility that you guys are delivering with NetApp Keystone of on premises or off- premises within the cloud isincredibly compelling. Uh this is something I think every IT organization should check out. And if you do want to learn more about Keystone storage as a service, please check out theKeystone page at netapp.com.
