Rackspace’s customers need to implement hybrid cloud strategies that depend on VMware private cloud environments deployed in public cloud data center, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS). Rackspace has developed a managed hybrid cloud solution — Rackspace Managed VMware Cloud on AWS — that addresses the issues of large data volumes in VMware Cloud on AWS.

Previously, the only options for customers were the native virtual SAN in VMware and the storage of the hyperscalers. Rackspace is the only provider authorized to offer external storage on AWS on a worldwide scale. In an exclusive agreement, Rackspace is using NetApp® Cloud Volumes Service to provide the necessary virtual managed cloud performance. Cloud Volumes Service offers storage across more AWS regions and at a fraction of the cost of native cloud.
