Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
Alrighty, let's go ahead and kick off, ladies and gentlemen, kicking us off on this power hour of innovation. Rodrigo is coming to us from Garage Tech. And I've got to say again, thank you for the partnership. Um, you know, you guys are bringing truth and justice uh to the country of Brazil. We really enjoyed uh, you know, hearing the candidacy as you guys submitted this. Um I think the volumes of data very scary uh to have to go through and manage that to be able to share it so that it's actionable to be able to have you know a very large amount of users be able to come in to accelerate uh you know through the legal system uh you know cases and getting that set up. Really would love to hear on you know the innovations you guys were able to bring to bear and uh take us through what you guys got. So welcome round of applause for Rodrigo everybody. Thank you, Alise. [cheering] [applause]>> So, hello everyone. Uh, my name is Rodrigo, as Lee said, and I will talk about the this case, the general attorney in Brazil and how they are handling pabytes of data and billion of files. Okay, so read this please. I give you five minutes. [laughter] And to set the stage, so uh we all know that data is the new petrol. We are in the data age, the data era. But how to handle this data is it will drive us to success. Okay. So that's it what thiscustomer is doing. So let's move on. So about the data how it started. It started in 2010 when this customer bought his first net and I remember and I did the first demonstration for them and it was something like snapshot. What is this? Does it really works? And when we did the demonstration was something like, "Oh, come on. It doesn't work. It's How can you delete a file and it appears again inseconds?"Andthen after we gain that their trust, they start to use NFS for VMware. So all of their VMmers are based on NFS in Ntop. Then in 2018 they started to use flex clone for the their databases. So there are heavy users for Oracle databases. So they clone the database every day. So they have a six clones for each database for test development and the amount of data is about uh 60 terabytes for this database. Okay. Then they starting use cluster on top. So if you don'tremember this name is our just on top but we have the seven mode. I don't know if it you remember this all then on top seven mode then cluster on top. Uh so it was everything all right okay running okaysnapshot the duplication cluster on top until they had to evolve so they have to use AI cloud computing machine learning so that's why uh we are here to present this case so about the business needs today theyhave ahomemade solution to handle all these files and they have 35 million processed in this solution and all of this data relies on net. Okay. So the they have 15,000 active users simultaneouslyon this application every day and last week I updated thisdata. So they are now with 1.5 million tasks per month and 300,000 and 300,000 and 300,000 documents per day. So the even if there are new documents or updated documents so there are 30,000 new digitalized components in their application. Sothis is the businesses how to handle this amount of data andregarding AI they would like to increase their lawsuits win rates and be able to speed the process up. What it means nowadays they take like what year with a process they would like to get it to six months. So they have to speed the process up and guarantee the availability because this is a nationalwidecompany. So if you look at Brazil we are the fifthcountry in theworld. So world. So it's not that easy to make it available 100% of the day and so to align the IT with this business needs uh it was transform transformation journey for theirthis customer. So they have to digitalize all their lawsuits and they are now using generative AI to increase those win rates. So nowadays the lawyers can go and okay how can I win this case and they just ask inside their reputation and they search in their data in inside that 35 million process to help this lawyer. Okay. Then they I told you they have this application but they now are using cubernetesokay to support this application and now they use that metric solution and the anti-eraser features that just on top has so what gorge tech is doing here. So the solution design was to understand the business it and translate it to the IT solutions with the customer. So we are doing a real consultant. We are not just trying to selling the product. Wework with them partner with the customer. So I think that's themain reason that they are with us since 2010 andafterwards it was installation configurationdeploying all features of net app. So if you tell me okay the duplication they use the duplication they use compression they use everything that app has to offer. Okay. So only when you deploy all features together you can show that real need that app effect on your ecosystem. So continue the story in 2019 they implemented net apps net mirror and they thought it was oh this is good how can I do better so then they implemented netup metro cluster it's a four node cluster metric cluster solution and in 2021 they started using Astra or Trident you decide the name you want touse. I prefer Trident and in 2020 this year they started using S3to use with the their generative AI solution. So it's all onand S3 if you don't know the latest release of on you can use S3 NFS and CIS or SMB in the same volume and this is huge for some customers and this one loves the idea to choose which protocol they are going to read the data. So the key to success on this customer was all net app features running together. So it wasn't not just Trident. Okay, Trident is very good but alone it's almost gloable. But when you use Trident with S3 with flex cloning with snapshot with metrocluster that's what make this solution unique for this customer. So the results they have all lawsuits available today through NFS and it will be available through S3 and the DEP sex op team they became a huge stakeholder for us because when they started talking about okay let's try to see another solution they said no I love Trident I have to use it. So that they became a huge stakeholder for us and since the implementation of net metro cluster solution they have 100% of data availability. So this is very nice. Uh so the key takeaways of this presentation is know the customer business needs so you can translate into IT needs and be consultive partner with the customer don't try just to sell productsand net app netapp wesay in Brazil net app okay that's why I'm but we here call net app so net app or network appliance for Idon'tappear that old but I remember network apply. So then app is red. Then the app's products are red for you. It's a futurep proof solution. You can see they relies on the top since 2010. So it 13 years with NetApp. So it's a future proof solution and we are ready. And as you as Isaw yesterday in the presentation, it's a new way to unify, right? So now it's all protocols everywhere. So maybe when they are going to move to the hybrid cloud solution and they will continue using all protocols, Trident, the snapshot, the duplication, everything they have. So there's some other uh sessions regarding this. You can reach me out in LinkedIn. My presentation will be sent to you. And thank you very much for being here. And let's give him a round of applause everybody. Now Rodrigo as we look across you know 13 years with this customer you guys are growing together. Um again you don't wear 13 years. It must be clean living. So you're not doing anything illegal out there to add to the case loads or everything. So we appreciate that. But talk through uh if you can, you know, you've got stakeholders all across the business, all across that department. How did you guys approach, hey, we've got an innovation here. Here's a quality of life improvement. Can you talk through the approach of how you guys evolved and we're jointly setting a vision together? >> Yeah, of course. Uh so firstly we have to talk with all people in this custo uh they have like different teams and we are going like okay today I'm going to talk with the to administrator guy tomorrow I will talk with the CI IO. So on Friday I have to talk with the developerbut we started doing some presentations inside the customers with all together and showing how NetApp product solution can address all their needs from every aspectand we have to build this partnership with them. So lots of demonstrations, lots of PLC's. So I think that's it. >> And then you know as you look across the challenges of designing you know across a two pabyte install uh is it the geographic disparity of all those 15,000 users? Is it the volumes offiles that are out there or the need for performance? the need for uptime. What was the hardest design paradigm that you guys had to put in place? Is it just the growth over time? Whatwould you say was the most challenging element you guys had to address on that? >> I would say that themost challenging was aligning this growth with security. Solast year they were attacking and the snapshot saved their life. I would say that. Yeah. So, and this customer about two years ago they had just uh 100 terabytes and in two years now they are about two pabytesand in the next year they will grow more two pabytes of data. And now we are going to add some flash solutionsso we can speed more the process. >> Well, fantastic. Uh any questions uh out in the audience for Rodrigo before werelease him from his servitude uh here within the uh innovation theater? >> Any questions? Well, again, on behalf of NAP, heartfelt thank you for the partnership. heartfelt thank you for willing to come all the way up here uh to take us through what I think is a very interesting problem set to have to address and I think you know the care andfeeling you put into the presentation that's definitely how you're delighting your customer to be able to keep them for 13 years and continue to grow with them. So thank you very much my friend. >> Okay. Thank you. Another round of applause ladies and gentlemen.
