BlueXP is now NetApp Console
Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
hello and welcome back this is the second part of a three-part demo series on Blue XP backup and recovery for VMS for Amazon FSX for neton app that being said let's quickly look at the agenda in part one we learned how to install blue XP backup and recovery for VMS and in this part I will talk about how to back up FSX for nedab onab data stores and VMS so let's get started let's visit vmc and look at the network settings for Blu XP backup and recovery for VMS to work this networking needs to be enabled between Blu XP backup and recovery for VMS and V Center and esxi as well as between blue XP backup and recovery for VMS and FSX for n on Tab let's see how we can we have Gateway firewall there you click on manage ment Gateway and say add rule the rule will Define a source destination and services that needs to be enabled so let's click set Source here the source will be user defined groups so click on that and if you want you can add new group but in my case I'll be using the existing one which I had created previously so here you select the source and say apply and Next Step would be to add the destination to which you want connection to be connection for this user defined group to both V Center and esxi so you click on V Center and say apply now add all the services that you wish to enable for now I'll just go ahead and rever this operation because I have created rules already for Venter as well as for esxi let's now go ahead and visit groups where under management groups you will see the user defined group that I was showcasing earlier you click on ADD members and say edit here you need to add subnet range or the IP of the blue XP backup and recovery for VM so that access to V Center and esxi can be granted next thing is to do unable access between blue XP backup and recovery for VMS and FSX for neab on Tab here also you need to add rule mentioning any source to any destination as well as we will be visiting AWS portal for this and just go to FSX here click on file system ID and then go to the bottom of this where you see network interfaces click on one of them and click on that net network interface ID and go to the security groups so here you need to edit inbound rules and add all the traffic which is coming from the Subnet in which blue XP backup and recovery for VMS is installed that's it from the networking site so let's go back to the vpar clant now and to the blue XP backup and recovery for VMS dashboard so here we are at the dashboard click on the getting started tab over here and for blue XP backup and recovery for VMS configuration there are three things that needs to be done first you have to add the storage system second you create backup policy and third is to creating the resource Group which is a container holding all the resources that you wish to backup we apply the backup policy created in step two to the resource Group once they are created so let's begin with step one click here to add the storage system so click on ADD and you will need to enter the information such as fkn or the managementIP so for that let's go back to the fxn or the AWS portal and here under the file system ID you will see the end points this is fkd this is the management IP so copy that IP and also go to the administration from here you will see that the user username is FSX admin and the password that you had set it up when youcreated FSX file system along with that you also need to provide the preferred IP addresses if you have multiple management IPs over here and if you wish to provide all those logs to the CIS log or if you want to unable the auto support you can do that as well I'm cancelling this operation for now because I have already added FSX file system over here with one storage virtual machine as well so let's go back to the dashboard and to the getting started page let's perform step two that is creating backup policy that will add the retention and frequency for the resource Group so clickhere as you can see there are few backup policies that I havealready created and I'll show you now couple of more to how to create them so when it comes to new backup policy you need to provide the name if you wish you can provide the description from a retention standpoint we have days to keep backups to keep and never expire so let's say backups to keep and let's say 14 backups from a frequency standpoint since this is the daily backup policy click on daily replication we do support replication to the secondary where you can move from FSX system primary FSX system to the secondary FSX system using the net app replication technology and if you wish to backup using blue XP backup and Recovery you must take this update snap VA after backup you also need to provide this snapshot labels that will be used to move data from primary to the secondaryso under Advanced tab we have a couple of option if you wish to have a VM consistent backups you just sck on it and if you want to include the spanning diss that can also be done here we also Support called scripts that is prescripts and post scripts that will be run before or after the backup is finished so if you wish to add those uh scripts that can be added you need to provide those scripts in the particular location that's it the policy has been created and as you can see that the daily backup policy is now available let's go ahead and create one more policy called On Demand policy and that's it uh the policy has been created so let's go back to the dashboard now and to the getting started page again here we need to perform the third step which is creating the resource Group itself so click here that will take you to the resource Group page I have created few resource groups already let's go ahead and create one more Resource Group again here also you need to provide the name description if you wish to and notification if you want to enable that for errors and warnings or for errors or for you can also select always but for now as Just Say Never And for latest snapshot name you can have the recent suffix for the latest snapshot copy if you wish to add that so this is applicable only to the newly created snapshot copies and will not impact your existing snapshot copies so also customers sometimes need custom snapshot format based on Enterprises or they want to provide some custom names that can be done using this option over here you can have a combination of Resource Group Policy name host name as a snapshot name and at the end the time stamp will be appended or if you want to have a custom text for your snapshot copy that can also be done so I'm just selecting custom text and I'm just providing some custom text over here that will be used for the snapshot naming followed by timestamp so click on next now and under scope we can protect it at the data store level or at the virtual machines level for this demonstration purpose I'll be using at the data stor level and here you will see all the available entities that you wish to protect and if you have say hundreds or thousands of data stores you can actually search them and then move it to the s selected entities to backup so entity has been selected now let's click next and also you can exclude all the spanning data stores that's the by default option but if you wish to include you can also do that here you can create policies on fly but for now I'll just be using the one that I have already created you can also attach multiple policies if you wishto okay so when you want to that event to be occured can be selected over here and say next here you review the summary and say finish that's it the resource Group has been created now you can see it over here as per schedule the backups will be triggered but if you want to trigger a backup right away that can also be done you select the resource group and say run now here the backup has been triggered now you can always go to the dashboard and under the recent job activities you will be seeing that one backup job is runningnow you click on the jobID and you will see all the step tasks that are taking place as part of this backup job if you wish to download job logs that can also be done from here yeah so backup job is now completed let's go back to the inventory and to the data store that we just backedup so if you click on the data store you will see the option called configure so under configure tab you just see that blue XP backup and recovery for VMS and there you see backups so here you will see all the backups that I have taken place so far you see primary as well as secondary that has been updated so that's itconcludes the part two of this demo series thank you so much for watching this and I request you to please go ahead and also watch part three of this demo Series where I talk about restoration of VMS as well as VM decays using blue XP backup and recovery for VMS thank you so much
