Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
Hey, I'm Tom Shields. I'm head of industry analyst relations at NetApp. And I've got some really exciting news for you. GigaM, a prominent industry analyst firm, has recently come out with some really interesting competitive analyses that show that NetApp is a leader among all a host of vendors around unified storage and data services for the hybrid cloud. And that's a huge deal. And so I want to bring Jeff Baxter in, who's a product and solution leader at NetApp, to help me unpack that a little bit and tell you why you should care as an enterprise uh customer or decision maker. So Jeff, how you doing? >> I'm awesome, Tom. And this is awesome news we have to share with everyone. I mean, how cool is it? We all know we're number one, right? And we know we're number one across all these different areas we compete in. But how awesome is it that Gigm is telling the world that that's true as well? getting that independent industry validation that we truly are number one. I'mtotally psyched about this. >> All right. Well, let's talk about the three gigah ohm radars that make up this enterprise leadership claim around hybrid cloud. So, first let'shit on the enterprise scaleout file systems radar.>> Yeah, you know, enterprise scaleout file systems, it's our birthright, right? It's what we invented three decades ago and we've scaled it out to be a massive industry and Gigam recognizing how great we are serving these multiple different workloads. Our EDA customers, me and customers, big data analytics, a IML, I mean we're doing great across all of it. Let's go ahead and put up that image and maybe you can show people just how well we're doing, Tom. >> Sure. So, yeah. So, with the radar, the highest customer value zone is really in the lower right quadrant. So you want to be an innovator versus afeature play or you want to be a platform versus a feature play. You want to kind of be an innovation leader rather than a more mature company. And so you can see that's where we are significantly. We're in the innermost circle next to that bullseye that indicates a leader. And um so we're right there. And finally we've got a orange arrow indicating pace of future innovation. So they've looked at our road map and said, "Yeah, we're on track to be an outperformer there andtake that even further." So a great position all around. So and then the CRE criteria are pretty tough. Look at what that what's on the bottom of the image there. [clears throat] >> Yeah, theydid a lot of inspection to make sure that we could stand up to these claims. And so they looked at what we could do in terms of security, Kubernetes integration, data management in general, and obviously cloud integration. and found as you saw that we were a leader and that not [music] only were we rest we weren't resting on our laurels but we were outperforming in terms of our pace of innovation which leads to this absolutely great placement here.>> Cool. So let's look at the next radar which is file systems but in the cloud instead of on premise. >> Yeah it'samazing to me this has to be two separate radars because for NetApp it's you know it's our bread and butter whether it's onrem or in the cloud but obviously for a lot of other vendors they can't say that. So, Gigam actually had to do two separate radars just so some of these guys could actually compete, but the workloads are the same, right? EDA, M& a IML, big data analytics, but still when we put up this image here, you'll see still a leadership position, Tom. >> Yeah. I mean, you look at theuh the image again, lower right hand quadrant, that's where you want to be. And significantly, they've even included the hyperscalers in this study. So if you look at the non-netapp based native services that they offer u you can see that where they're stacking up against the onapp based um cloud services over on thelower right hand quadrant. So another great placement in file services [music] in the public cloud. Let's look at the final um radar around primary storage for large enterprises. And you know this one doesn't need a lot of explanation on the workloads. I think everybody knows this is about databases. This is about missionritical applications needing the highest performance, the highest availability. They can't go down. They always have to be available. So um let's look at the image. So you can see again this is uh a great position for NetApp to be in lower right hand quadrant [music] but there's fewer competitors. you know this is a more mature market but you can see against these really tough and cutting edge criteria um we've been evaluated againstthese metrics and uh coming out on top again >> you know these key criteria were succeeding across all of them in all these different spaces and when you look at it from an enterprise perspective if you're CIO or CFO decision maker in the space you're going to have all these different type of workloads silos are the death of efficiency they're the death of your budget ifyou can pick one vendor, NetApp, who can be the leader across all of these workloads, that's golden, right? That solves so many different problems. It lets you optimize your operations for your cost, security, scalability, agility, speed. It lets you futureroof your investment. So even if you're primarily onrem today and just starting on your cloud journey, you've got this cloudproof, futureproof infrastructure in place across all of your workloads. And it lets you continue to accelerate your digital transformation using the most innovative data management software for any prize any enterprise workload anywhere. That's really what these gig radar showed to me, Tom. me, Tom. me, Tom. >> Right. Cool. So, you basically summed it all up. You got to look at them all together, I think. And we've allowed uh you [music] you all to go andfind a place where you can read a summary that brings these three radars together and extracts theoverall value for you. And so, um, you can access that report and the individual radars on netapp.com/compaces. So, encourage you to head on over there and of course come back and check out NetApp TV often. Cheers.
