Google Cloud NetApp Volumes offers advanced performance configuration options for volumes

September 30, 2025

Google Cloud NetApp Volumes now supports a manual Quality of Service (QoS) option, allowing organizations to directly control throughput for each volume within the provisioned storage pool capacity. This feature ensures predictable performance for demanding workloads and offers flexibility to optimize storage for databases, latency-sensitive apps, or large file shares.

Until now, QoS settings were managed automatically, which simplified management but provided limited options for direct customization. The new manual option allows administrators to allocate resources according to specific requirements, which can help reduce resource contention and improve system responsiveness.

Performance parameters can be adjusted using the Google Cloud API, gCloud CLI or Terraform, allowing configuration to meet changing business requirements. Enterprises can access this feature by navigating to NetApp Volumes within their Google Cloud project and selecting the manual QoS setting when creating or modifying a volume.
