Google Cloud NetApp Volumes expands disaster recovery

July 22, 2025

Google Cloud NetApp Volumes now supports cross-project replication, allowing data protection and management across different cloud projects, expanding the support for a range of architectures and disaster recovery scenarios for organizations.

Previously, organizations were able to only replicate volumes within a single Google Cloud project. Many organizations utilize separate Google Cloud projects for production and disaster recovery resources to address security, network design, or compliance needs. With the introduction of cross-project replication, disaster recovery can be configured between distinct project boundaries to align with specific network topology, security, and isolation requirements for critical workloads.

Cross-project replication provides additional operational control and flexibility for architectural modifications, as well as secure and reliable replication between projects.
