Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now allows users to reduce SSD storage capacity, making it easier to efficiently manage project-based workloads with changing active working sets.
SSD Shrink allows users to quickly reduce your file system's SSD capacity as your workload requirements change. This feature ensures top performance during peak workloads (Electronic Design Automation, media processing) and can then scale down once processing is finished. You can also speed up data migrations by temporarily boosting SSD capacity for faster data ingestion, then adjusting it to the right size once complete, tiering data to the capacity pool.
SSD Shrink is now available on Gen 2 FSx for ONTAP file systems across all AWS Regions where Gen2 FSx for ONTAP is available. To learn explore more, visit the user guide.
