Flex Unified Large Capacity Volumes Preview

February 24th, 2026

Google Cloud NetApp Volumes now offers a preview of Large Capacity Volumes with the Flex Unified service level. Customers can now run capacity and performance intensive workloads like HPC, EDA, AI/ML training, and content repositories in a region of their choice without any compromise.

With Flex Unified and Large Capacity Volumes, customers can use custom performance to provision capacity, throughput and IOPS independently and scale linearly in any one dimension to meet their workload’s requirements. Customers can large capacity storage pools starting at 6TiB and scale up to 20PiB, while volumes can range from 2.3TiB to 20PiB. Throughput scales from 64 MiB/s to 22 GiB/s and IOPS start at 1024 scaling all the way up to 750,000. Additionally, workloads can use multiple endpoints (IP addresses) to load-balance traffic and achieve higher performance, ideal for workloads requiring highly concurrent access to a large data set.

Large capacity volumes allow customers to bring petabyte-scale datasets used in EDA workloads, AI applications, and content data repositories to benefit from data management features like snapshots, clones, and cross-region replication.

Flex Unified Large Capacity Volume support for NetApp Volumes is now available in 15 Google Cloud regions. Visit the product documentation to learn more about NetApp Volumes and how to accelerate your cloud transformation.
