The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the biggest overhaul of EU data protection law in more than 20 years. It replaces the current EU Data Protection Directive and aims to create unified data protection legislation covering all individuals in the European Union. It will take effect on 25 May 2018.

Impact of GDPR

New European Union privacy laws have global impact. The extraterritorial nature of the Regulation means GDPR will affect any business that has access to or processes the personal data of an EU resident, regardless of where the business is located or how the data is collected.

GDPR is designed to increase the protection of personal data for all EU residents regardless of where it is collected or stored. The extraterritorial nature of the regulation will be felt globally, because all companies that capture data of EU residents will be required to comply with the legislation. Are you ready?

GDPR doesn’t start with technology

GDPR is a legal compliance issue, achieved through a robust data privacy compliance framework. Technology can help maintain compliance, but technology deployment alone will not satisfy all GDPR requirements.

To comply with GDPR, it's essential to create the right legal foundation.

A data privacy partner you can trust

Choosing the right partner is key to your success. NetApp is one of less than 100 companies globally to earn the distinguished Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) approval. BCRs are an EU recognition of a set of stringent, intracorporate policies that enable multinational organizations to prove that personal data across borders complies with EU data protection laws. We’ve done it. We can help you.
