NetApp is now an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Government ISV Competency Partner for Public Sector, validating NetApp® Cloud Volumes ONTAP® and our ability to help agencies upgrade and optimize their hybrid architecture. NetApp is the first primary storage company to achieve this competency.

Why it matters

Government agencies around the world are balancing agility, security, compliance, and reliability. At the same time, they are focused on modernizing aging infrastructures and making sure that data is widely available and protected. With these challenges, it’s crucial to engage with trusted providers that have technical expertise and a track record of success. AWS Government Competency Partners have what it takes to help you succeed at every stage of your cloud journey.

AWS Government ISV Competency Partners have demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality solutions that enable organizations to meet migration mandates, reduce costs, and increase innovation across civilian agencies, national defense and intelligence communities, and state and local governments.

What they’re saying

“With this competency, users can confidently run file shares and block-level storage serving NAS and SAN protocols such as NFS, SMB, and iSCSI,” said Amy Belcher, leader, ISV Sales and Go To Market Strategy at AWS.

As an AWS Partner Network Technology Partner and AWS Public Sector Partner, NetApp can help you extend your unstructured data, databases, and applications to AWS. “You can migrate any workload more easily with the right file services tool,” says Ronen Schwartz, senior vice president and general manager of Cloud Volumes at NetApp. “Consider NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP, a storage service that unifies data management across the hybrid cloud, letting you make the most of your agency’s storage infrastructure.”

The benefits of easily scaling storage on AWS are borne out by customers’ experiences. When the pandemic struck, educational technology company Blackboard saw usage of its virtual classroom tool expand by more than 45 times in less than 3 weeks. Turning to NetApp and AWS, Blackboard quickly responded and continued to provide 100% uptime for learners.

“In the cloud, we’re able to use orchestration and automation by leveraging NetApp ONTAP APIs to deliver on storage in a matter of hours. And that was the difference between success in continued education and catastrophic failure,” says Kris Stokking, vice president of Software Engineering at Blackboard.

What’s next

Achieving AWS Government ISV Competency, in addition to existing AWS Migration and Modernization ISV Competency and AWS Storage ISV Competency designations, distinguishes NetApp beyond its technical merits. We’ve proven that we can help government organizations transform their infrastructure to deliver more for their constituents. Use your agency data where, when, and how you need it with an agile data fabric built on services from NetApp and AWS.
