This video will demonstrate cloud recommendations in NetApp Blue XP's digital advisor service. To get to cloud recommendations, click on cloud recommendations on the main dashboard's left navigation panel. The digital advisor service uses AI and machine learning techniques to determine which systems in your environment are good candidates for migration to the cloud, tiering to the cloud or onrem S3 devices like a storage grid, backup and archive to the cloud, and disaster recovery to the cloud. Each of the panels is clickable to give more information. Let's look at taring as our example. You can save money by tearing cold or inactive data off of expensive discs such as flash drives and tier onto cloud storage or a local storage device that speaks the S3 protocol. Let's talk about the main components of the tiering screen. There's a scatter plot showing a graph of inactive or cold data versus used capacity. It is color-coded to show the percent full for each node. It also uses triangles to show which systems that we recommend tiering. Next, there is a pie chart showing the breakdown of hot, cold, tiered, and unmonitored data. Unmonitored data happens when there are aggregates that do not have inactive data reporting turned on. You can download a custom ansible script to turn it on for each aggregate by clicking the enabled R link. This pie chart helps you to see the breakdown of hot and cold data visually. Beneath that there are list of aggregates and volumes showing their hot and cold data. It allows you to sort by the most cold data to see which you can get the most value from taring. There's a link to go to the taring screen in Blue XP where you can set the tiering policy for an aggregate. If you want to look at the complete data set, you can click on complete tiering report to get that data in a spreadsheet.
