BlueXP is now NetApp Console
Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
In this video, we'll demonstrate how to empower your knowledge workers with insights from private enterprise data with tools such as Anthropics Claude Desktop and NetApp's MCP server for knowledge bases. Managed via NetApp's Workload Factory platform, let's start with a list of all knowledge bases which are indexed enterprise data sets ready to be integrated by applications to add relevant context to user queries. Focus on the oil and gas reports knowledge base that has data on crude oil production and price forecasts. Using the playground, you can test this knowledge base which uses insights from market reports to answer user questions. Later in the demo, we'll ask the same query via Claude Desktop. Now let's install NetApp's local MCP server for knowledge bases. Using the NetApp provided Claude Desktop Extension package, the installation is just a single click installed for the knowledge worker. To connect the MCP server to knowledge bases, the user needs to get NetApp BlueXP tenant account ID and credentials of the service account that can access knowledge bases. The BlueXP administrator can provide these credentials to the Claude Desktop user. Add your BlueXP account ID and service account credentials in Claude Desktop. The MCP server is now ready to be used. You will see all knowledge bases available as MCP tools to Claude Desktop. Notice the oil and gas reports knowledge base we used earlier available here. Let's now ask the same question we used in the playground via Claude Desktop. The user asks about the forecast for U.S. crude oil production in 2025. To answer this query, Claude Desktop will use one of the knowledge base tools it's connected to. It understands user's query and selects the oil and gas reports knowledge base to search for relevant context to prepare the answer. Search results returned by the knowledge base are used by Claude Desktop to generate contextually aware and accurate response to user's query. Along with the response, appropriate citation is provided to inform user about which files were used to retrieve relevant context information to answer the query. As you saw in this demonstration, knowledge bases allow you to get deep insights from your unstructured enterprise data. Knowledge bases automate the end to end process of connecting to your data sources and preparing data to be consumed by generative AI models. Now with the MCP server for knowledge bases, it's easier than ever to connect these insights with AI applications such as Claude Desktop to vastly improve the productivity of your knowledge workers.
