Google Cloud NetApp Volumes now supports multiple Active Directory domains per Google Cloud region, simplifying identity management for enterprises. Organizations using Microsoft Active Directory often deploy multiple domains or forests to manage secure identity services across different teams, business units, or regions. Previously, Google Cloud NetApp Volumes only supported one domain per Google Cloud region. Customers had to either deploy additional projects—adding unnecessary complexity—or re-architect their domain structure by introducing unwanted trust relationships.
Now cloud operations and engineering teams can support up to five Active Directory domains within a single Google Cloud project, streamlining storage management for Windows file sharing. This reduces the need for additional projects, making it easier to organize and scale enterprise cloud file storage while preserving existing domain architectures.
Customers can seamlessly integrate multiple domains, ensuring secure access control and governance across their storage environment, without compromising on security or efficiency. The result is a more flexible, scalable solution that allows teams to optimize their Active Directory configurations without introducing unnecessary overhead or rework.
