Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, a fully managed file storage service in Google Cloud that provides high-performance, enterprise-grade file storage, assists customers in reducing cloud waste due to storage overprovisioning. Customers can now preview functionality in the Flex service level that allows them to independently scale performance from capacity. This drives down storage costs by allowing administrators to dial-in their provisioning to meet application requirements. Additionally, the Flex service level has been updated to allow for up to 5GiB/s of throughput and 160K IOPS to accommodate performance demanding applications.
Prior to this update, storage performance was tied to the total provisioned capacity of a storage volume. This resulted in administrators overprovisioning storage capacity to meet performance demands. Customers can now right-size their storage by provisioning the capacity, throughput, and IOPS for storage pools based on their workload’s requirements. These improvements, combined with worldwide availability and support for both zonal and regional availability, will enable customers to right-size storage and optimize storage costs.
Additional details on NetApp Volumes can also be found in the product documentation.
