BlueXP is now NetApp Console
Monitor and run hybrid cloud data services
August 30, 2025
Customers can now have the functionality to move their data and snapshots from existing ONTAP deployments on-premises or using NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) to and from Google Cloud NetApp Volumes using two-way continuous SnapMirror. Google Cloud NetApp Volumes is a fully managed file storage service in Google Cloud that provides high-performance, enterprise-grade file storage. SnapMirror support for data movement enables customers to use Google Cloud as a disaster recovery solution for their on-premises applications without using third-party data movers and without incurring additional expenses.
Prior to this, customers had to use self-managed NetApp CVO as a storage target to migrate data from on-premises to Google Cloud. This added unnecessary complexity of utilizing self-managed cloud storage and incurred additional cloud costs. It also prevented customers from using their Google Cloud committed use discount (CUD) resulting in higher data storage costs.
Additional details on NetApp Volumes can also be found in the product documentation.
