Gartner Identifies NetApp as Leader in 2019 Primary Storage Magic Quadrant

The amount of data being generated today is stunning—as much as 2.5 quintillion bytes per day—and it continues to grow. The World Economic Forum expects the entire digital universe to reach 44 zettabytes by 2020. If that number is accurate, it will mean there are 40 times more bytes of data than there are stars in the observable universe. Transforming that data into business growth demands fresh thinking that’s informed by experience, without being limited by it. More data than stars means even more revenue possibilities for our Partner Channel if we harness our collective power and push the boundaries of traditional thinking.

Recently, Gartner published its Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage, and NetApp took the highest ranking in the Leaders quadrant for both our ability to execute, and completeness of vision. The Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage replaces two previous Magic Quadrants: The Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays and the Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Storage Arrays. Gartner first recognized NetApp in 2013 as a Leader in their Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays, and we have remained in the Leaders quadrant for six years. NetApp has also been the Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Solid State Arrays since 2016.

NetApp is leading a market that is continuing to expand. By 2026, spending on global storage, including enterprise traditional storage, enterprise, cloud true private cloud and hyperscale server SAN, is predicted to reach $59 million.

How NetApp Reached the Top Right

According to a description of Gartner’s quadrants from IT World Canada, Leaders “have demonstrated the vision necessary to sustain their market positions as requirements evolve … Their size and maturity enable them to remain viable under changing market conditions.” Real leaders are those that remain agile, are in-tune with the ever-changing market, and don't rest on their laurels but keep innovating and moving forward. That's how you earn your position in the top right quadrant, and how you remain there.
