NetApp believes data literacy is the foundation upon which education can be transformed. Together with World’s Largest Lesson, we are helping empower young students to take action for quality education by unlocking the power of data.
In September 2015, the UN General Assembly’s 193 countries adopted the 2030 Development Agenda, which outlined 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or Global Goals, intended to be achieved by 2030. World’s Largest Lesson is an initiative that introduces students in schools to the Global Goals while encouraging them to take part in contributing to a better future for all.
With help from program partners UNICEF and UNESCO, World’s Largest Lesson produces creative resources for educators to teach lessons, run projects, and stimulate action in support of the SDGs. With NetApp’s support, we are enabling World’s Largest Lesson's unique data-focused learning activities for SDG 4 to reach millions of students in over 70 countries.
As World’s Largest Lesson’s Goal 4 Impact Partner, NetApp aims to help “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” We believe this can be achieved by empowering students to realize the power of data and become advocates for quality education at home, at school, and in their communities.
In addition to students missing out on 2 trillion hours of learning, the pandemic revealed inequalities and inadequacies of our education systems across the globe.
By diving into the data on education and taking a moment to reflect on their own classroom context, students can develop insights into what they want to see change in education.
With access to meaningful and relevant platforms, students feel empowered to express their views on what and how they should be learning and for those views to be taken seriously.
At NetApp, we believe quality education and data literacy are foundational for young people’s future and our collective ability to tackle social and environmental challenges. Working directly with World’s Largest Lesson gives us the opportunity to bring our Data Explorers program to a much wider audience around the globe.
We at NetApp believe in empowering the next generation with the data science skills to build the future. Through our Data Explorers program, we are proud to be working with World’s Largest Lesson in preparing today’s young people to unlock the full potential of data and make a difference in tomorrow’s world.
