When downtime costs $8,000 per minute, every second counts.

In my previous blog post, I introduced Third Bank, a regional bank with a boss who didn’t realize that the link he opened was in a phishing email. Now their systems are down and clients can’t bank, and it’s a race against the clock.

Send in the consultant

We’ve established a few things at this point:

  • Third Bank isn’t exactly cyber resilient.
  • Spence is in way over his head.
  • The pressure is on to get systems back online as quickly as possible.

Given the dire situation, Third Bank calls in a consultant. He’s an authorized NetApp® reseller, and he’s thinking that a Zero Trust architecture is exactly what this IT needs. But good luck telling Spence he can no longer access whatever he wants.

Third Banks calls in a consultant in the wake of a ransomware attack. The consultant, who is an authorized NetApp reseller, recommends a Zero Trust architecture.

The shift to cloud

As Third Bank thinks through their cyber-resilience strategy, several teammates discuss the ever-important question: How do we handle the cloud? Some, like Diana, are pushing for a shift to cloud. Others, like Blu, worry about security and the complexity of running apps in the cloud. Can the team get on the same page and finally build their ransomware defenses?

Third Bank employees are split between wanting to shift to the cloud and worrying about security and complexity. Can they unite to build a ransomware strategy that prevents future attacks?

What happens next

Curious to see what happens next? If you missed episodes 1, 2, and 3, you can unlock the full series and follow along with our practical guide, to help you make sure that you’re never in the same tight spot as Third Bank.
