What is new with the updated plug-in

The updated NetApp ONTAP Plug-In uses Veeam’s Universal Storage API to connect Veeam Backup & Replication with NetApp storage systems for backup and replication jobs. The NetApp USAPI Plug-In v2.0.14 supports NetApp FAS, AFF, ASA, and ASA r2 systems running ONTAP 9.10.1 or later, with Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1.0.411 or later required before installation.

For customers, the result is a more streamlined way to use ONTAP storage-level capabilities inside familiar Veeam workflows—helping reduce production overhead, accelerate protection operations, and strengthen recovery options for VMware environments.

The plug-in enables customers to use ONTAP SnapMirror optimized replication within Veeam workflows, helping replicate snapshots between clusters for added recoverability and resilience. This helps teams build protection strategies that support both local recovery and disaster recovery objectives.

3. Tamper-resistant protection against evolving threats

Cyberattacks increasingly target backup infrastructure and recovery points. NetApp and Veeam help customers strengthen their cyber resilience posture by supporting tamperproof snapshot capabilities that help protect VM data against malware and unauthorized deletion.
