George Kurian - CEO of NetApp

George Kurian, CEO of NetApp

George joined the company in 2011, bringing his passion and relentless focus on execution to his leadership roles at NetApp. He was named CEO in June 2015.

Previously at NetApp, as Executive Vice President (EVP) of Product Operations, George was responsible for the strategy and development of NetApp’s Product and Solutions portfolio. Before that George was Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Data ONTAP group. He oversaw the product roadmap and engineering execution for the Data ONTAP operating system, the world’s most widely deployed branded storage operating system.

George joined NetApp as Senior Vice President of the Storage Solutions Group, where he was responsible for the solutions portfolio and joint partner technology integration.

Prior to joining NetApp, George was Vice President (VP) and General Manager (GM) of the Application Networking and Switching Technology Group at Cisco Systems. In this role, he was responsible for Cisco products for the modular campus LAN switching and WAN application delivery markets. George’s diverse background also includes the role of VP at Akamai Technologies, management consulting at McKinsey & Company, and leading Software Engineering and Product Management teams at Oracle Corporation.

Jeff Wike, CTO of DreamWorks Animation

Jeff Wike is the Chief Technology Officer of DreamWorks Animation, where he is responsible for the strategic vision, creation, operations and maintenance of the studio’s 3D computer-generated animated production platform. In his role, Jeff is responsible for all aspects of technology needs for film and TV production, including software development, technical operations and the provisioning of technology resources required for digital content production at the studio.

Jeff has taken a leading role in a number of significant technology initiatives in his 20-year tenure with DreamWorks. He was instrumental in the conversion of the studio from 2D to 3D; authoring of films in stereo; the adoption of Linux; creation of pre-visualization capability; and development and deployment of the studio’s advanced artist tools re-architected to exploit multi-processor hardware architectures and cloud computing as well as big data analytics for infrastructure efficiency.

Prior to joining DreamWorks, Jeff developed software for the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as well as led R&D projects in the area of 2D and 3D image processing, robotics and artificial intelligence. As a Captain in the U.S. Army, Wike served as a paratrooper, an intelligence officer and pioneered software development for intelligence and electronic warfare battlefield automated systems.

Jeff has a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He is on the executive board and CFO of the International Animated Film Society, a member of the Visual Effects Society and a member of Industry Council for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project.

Bill Miller, CIO of NetApp

William Miller is SVP and CIO at NetApp, responsible for business application solution management and delivery across NetApp. Working closely with his peers, his focus is on end-to-end planning, execution and delivery of business capabilities. Bill and his organization enable and accelerate operational excellence and process efficiencies through productivity tools and technology solutions, while also proactively managing enterprise-wide security for NetApp’s intellectual property and data. In addition, Bill is responsible for accelerating adoption of and showcasing NetApp’s own use cases for NetApp technologies and solutions via the NetApp on NetApp and Customer-1 programs.

Bill brings to NetApp an extensive background in providing technology-centered leadership and global business solutions to large technology companies. He has previously led world-class IT organizations focused on delivering value by leveraging cloud computing applications and partners to maintain low-spend profiles for best-in-class efficiencies.
