Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, a fully managed file storage service in Google Cloud that provides high-performance, enterprise-grade file storage, announces the product preview of cross-regional backup integration. Starting today, customers can backup volume data in Netapp Volumes to a backup vault in a different region from the volume. Cross-region backups allow customers to maintain a copy of their data in a different Google Cloud region to meet data protection and compliance requirements. Additionally, cross-regional backups provide data protection in the event of a regional outage.
Prior to this, customers had to use cross-regional replication between NetApp Volumes which incurs higher storage provisioning costs. Utilizing a backup vault for data protection provides a lower cost solution to help customers optimize their cloud spend. Netapp Volumes integrated backups deliver data protection capabilities that enable customers to meet compliance and regulatory recovery requirements.
