NDMP Certification

NetApp® backup application certification provides partners a method to make sure their products interoperate with NetApp tape-based backup products.

Why Use NDMP
NDMP provides an open standard for network-based backup of network-attached storage. The protocol allows application vendors to utilize a standard set of commands to backup and restore file servers without having to do an extensive amount of coding for different products. From a customer perspective NDMP enables data protection of NAS storage to occur faster and more efficiently because data is written directly to tape storage vs. going through the backup server.

Test Plan
The NetApp interoperability test plan is a list of tests that exercise different ways of performing tape backups of NetApp file servers. This set of tests determines that Data ONTAP® and backup software interoperate appropriately so backup and recovery operations complete successfully.

To obtain the detailed test suite, submit an e-mail request to the Data ONTAP NDMP certification team.
