FlexCache software creates a caching layer in your storage infrastructure that automatically adapts to changing usage patterns, eliminating performance bottlenecks without tedious management.
In addition, FlexCache automatically caches and serves hot datasets anywhere in your infrastructure using local volumes. This is useful for:

FlexCache software addresses some of today's most difficult data access and data management problems and can be added to existing FAS or V-Series systems running NFS. Source volumes can be on storage arrays running Data ONTAP® software operating in 7-Mode or Cluster-Mode while FlexCache volumes must be on storage arrays running in 7-Mode.
NetApp® Storage Acceleration Appliances that host only FlexCache volumes are cost effective for applications for which a full-blown storage system is not required. Single high-availability and dual hot-swappable controller configurations are available.
