NetApp was established in the Boston area in 2000 with the acquisition of privately held Orca Systems, Inc. Since that time, the office has grown from 16 engineers to roughly 150 employees. In addition, the company has expanded its office space to nearly 60,000 square feet over the past seven years to accommodate the growth.

This is the first "Best Places to Work" honor the NetApp New England office has received from the Boston Business Journal. Results are based on employee surveys, benefits and compensation, and work-life balance offerings. In addition, the Triangle Business Journal has named NetApp one of the "Best Places to Work" every year since 2004, and the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal has cited NetApp as a "Best Place to Work" in the Bay Area in each of those years as well. And NetApp has made Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list every year since 2002, based on a variety of employee benefits and perks, and Computerworld listed NetApp as one of the "100 Best Places to Work in IT" in 2003 and 2005.
