NetApp Becomes the First Storage Vendor Certified by UGS PLM Software

Sunnyvale, Calif. - June 14, 2007 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of storage and data management solutions, today announced certification of its Data ONTAP® 7G operating system by UGS® PLM Software, a division of Siemens® Automation and Drives (A&D) and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, for integration with UGS Teamcenter® Engineering. NetApp is the first network storage vendor to earn this specific certification from UGS PLM Software, highlighting NetApp leadership in storage for mechanical design applications. Furthermore, UGS PLM Software customers can deploy NetApp Data ONTAP in their Teamcenter Engineering environments, knowing that it will perform and scale to at least 2,000 concurrent users, while meeting stringent UGS PLM Software requirements.

With over three million licenses worldwide, UGS Teamcenter software has been the most widely used solution for product lifecycle management for several years. UGS Teamcenter solutions link users with secure global access to a single source of product knowledge, enabling process excellence throughout the lifecycle. Teamcenter provides world-class product data management capabilities to leading manufacturing organizations, and certification for such an extraordinary system demands an equally impressive storage solution. Important factors in the certification were the ability of Data ONTAP to deliver consistent peak performance, enable collaborative development environments, and provide high availability for technical applications across both NFS and CIFS protocols.

"UGS PLM Software has worked closely with NetApp for a long time, and our list of joint customers is extensive," said Jim Phelan of UGS. "Customer success is at the forefront of UGS PLM Software's mission, and supporting networked storage from NetApp helps us achieve that success. It is important to us that we empower our customers to deploy Teamcenter Engineering on NetApp with the confidence that comes from certifying that the combination will work, provide peak performance, and scale."

"NetApp is honored to be the only storage vendor certified for Teamcenter Engineering," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at NetApp. "NetApp and UGS PLM Software share the same high standards for data storage and security, and we are pleased that more customers than ever will be able to take advantage of the NetApp ability to streamline backup, easily manage data across remote development sites, and accelerate time to innovation, all of which are vitally important in the competitive world of mechanical design."
