NetApp Introduces Software That Bolsters Productivity and Availability in SAP® Solution-Based Environments

Sunnyvale, Calif. and Atlanta, Georgia - April 24, 2007 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) today added new NetApp SnapManager software for use with SAP® solutions to its portfolio of application data management solutions that complement SAP solution-based environments to help customers enhance application availability and provide increased storage management flexibility at SAPPHIRE 2007. Based on NetApp Snapshot™ technology, the new version of SnapManager provides an integrated interface with SAP solutions that enables customers to manage database backups, restores, and complete recovery of SAP application data within minutes. NetApp Snapshot technology is proven to save customers an average of between 30% and 50% on ongoing IT costs and has the ability to recover data from application or user error up to two times faster than alternative solutions, according to the findings of Mercer Consulting (see http://www.netapp.com/go/sap/2006/ to register for the complete study).

Additionally, NetApp SnapManager 1.0 has achieved "Certified for SAP NetWeaver®" status. The SnapManager solution has been certified for the BC-BRI interface, which requires testing the back-up, restore and inquire functions. The BC-BRI interface enables software vendors to develop systems that back up Oracle databases by issuing calls to SAP back-up programs. SAP rigorously tests and certifies applications such as NetApp SnapManager through its SAP Integration and Certification Center.

The latest version of SnapManager software for use with SAP solutions extends the NetApp portfolio of data management solutions for SAP customers, which today also includes NetApp FlexClone® and NetApp ReplicatorX™ software. Because of the architectural simplicity of NetApp solutions, SnapManager for use with SAP solutions can be leveraged with other NetApp software designed for the data center to achieve:

Increased productivity by cloning an entire database near-instantaneously with no performance penalty with NetApp FlexClone software.

Increased flexibility and application availability by replicating data over any distance, and across any enterprise storage system (whether it's EMC, HDS, HP, or IBM), with NetApp ReplicatorX for nondisruptive disaster recovery and rapid test and development.

Additionally, NetApp ReplicatorX software used in SAP solution-based environments simplifies the process of protecting and rapidly recovering an up-to-the-second copy of the SAP production data, in the event of a disaster, without disrupting the existing IT infrastructure. When used with NetApp FlexClone software, customers can rapidly replicate and clone multiple terabytes of SAP production data to a NetApp storage system in minutes, without taking up additional storage capacity. This means customers can manage more dataset variations-in less time and with less risk-and avoid the cost of duplicating expensive production site storage for QA and development systems.

"The data center is complex and demanding," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions and Alliances at Network Appliance. "Tools that are compatible with SAP solutions like SnapManager, FlexClone, and ReplicatorX are evidence of our continued commitment to help customers who are also using SAP solutions to increase productivity and application availability while lowering overall costs. Our unique approach to simplifying data management in SAP solution-based environments speeds initial implementations and drives greater business value over the long term.

SnapManager for use with SAP solutions expands the NetApp business application integration software portfolio, which also includes NetApp SnapManager for Microsoft® Exchange, SnapManager for Microsoft SQL Server, and SnapManager for Oracle. The new version of SnapManager, compatible with SAP solutions, will be available worldwide in May 2007.
