NetApp® Storage Software Growth Outpaces Market for Fourth Consecutive Year
Sunnyvale, Calif. - March 19, 2007 --
Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:
NTAP) announced today that it continues to gain momentum in the
storage software market, growing the fastest among the top 10
leading storage software providers in 2006. According to IDC's
Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker Q4 20061,
NetApp grew six times faster than the overall storage software
market from 2005 to 2006, and posted share gains across each
submarket segment in which it provides offerings. According to IDC,
the company also maintained the number-two market share position in
the storage replication software market, gaining five market share
points from 2005 to 2006 and closing the gap on the market
This marks the fourth consecutive year that
NetApp has outpaced the overall storage software market. For
overall storage software market revenues, NetApp achieved 9.0%
market share in 2006 and grew at 50.1%, while the market grew at
8.3% year over year.
Also according to IDC, NetApp grew fastest
among the top five storage replication software vendors and is
currently in the number two position, narrowing the gap on the
current replication market leader. Specifically, NetApp grew almost
three times the market rate, and 36 times the rate of the market
leader in this subsegment. This also marks the fourth consecutive
year in which NetApp grew greater than 50%, year over year, in the
software replication market, growing from 17.8% to 22.8% market
share between 2005 and 2006.
