NetApp Powers Transaction Business for InCore Bank

Sunnyvale, Calif. - February 20, 2007 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that InCore Transaction Bank of Switzerland has selected NetApp unified storage solutions for its transaction-intensive data service and data protection needs. InCore Bank offers services such as brokerage, payment transactions, and reporting for small and midsize private and retail banks in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. NetApp fabric-attached storage (FAS) systems provide InCore Bank with optimal storage resource utilization, streamlined administration management, and consolidated and simplified data protection operations.

"Outsourcing is becoming more important in Switzerland. Banks outsource resource-intensive areas such as IT and the back office in order to concentrate on key areas of their business and save costs," said René Hertach, CIO of InCore. "As a service provider, we need to make our customers' data secure and available at all times. NetApp storage solutions provide us with the confidence that our data will be readily available when needed and that we have the flexibility to fine-tune our tiered storage infrastructure. With minimal disruption to our existing IT infrastructure and processes, NetApp lets us focus our resources and energy on continuing to move our business forward."

InCore Bank deployed a NetApp FAS3000 system to centrally manage its transaction platform "Legando" and other business-critical applications. The bank also uses NetApp MetroCluster data protection software to replicate data synchronously between remote sites, reducing the chance of data loss in the event of a disruption. In addition, the NetApp unified storage system functions as a "unification engine" that simultaneously supports Fibre Channel and IP storage area networks (SANs) and network-attached storage (NAS), allowing InCore to achieve high levels of storage consolidation while increasing its overall storage utilization.

InCore Bank also replaced its tape backup solution with two mirrored FAS3000 systems. The results are lower storage costs and an efficient use of storage capacity because the bank decreased the amount of data saved to tape and eliminated a large amount of duplicate backup data. Also, NetApp Snapshot™ technology allows online data backup within seconds and disaster recovery within minutes instead of hours and days.

"We are extremely pleased that InCore Bank has placed its trust in NetApp," said Elisa Steele, vice president of Corporate Marketing at NetApp. "Our solutions are designed for simpler management and lower outlay costs-as well as higher data availability-which translates directly into bottom-line payoffs, especially for a company like InCore Bank, which relies on innovative technology to manage important customer data."
