Topio Announces Integration of TDPS with Network Appliance Data ONTAP® 7G and FlexClone

Santa Clara, CA - August 15, 2006 -- Topio, Inc. ( www.topio.com), A NetApp Strategic Partner and the leading provider of software for enterprise-class data replication and recovery, today announced the integration of its flagship Topio Data Protection Suite™ (TDPS) 3.0 with Network Appliance Data ONTAP 7G and FlexClone. The combination offers advanced functions for data management including non-disruptive, continuous data replication and on-demand cloning for production support applications such as development and testing, reporting, data analysis, point-in-time recovery or archiving.

"Users waste huge money keeping expensive core replicas on their most expensive transactional storage. By moving replicated data off of the big iron, big money block storage and keeping it on lower cost, more flexible, and easier to manage gear, the payback time is effectively zero," said Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "Combine the no-brainer economics with the fact that you can now snap those replicas at will so you can do real-time application testing, data warehouse loading, archiving, disaster recovery, etc. - all without affecting the production systems, and I really can't find a reason why anyone wouldn't want to do this."

The new solution enables continuous replication from any production storage to NetApp® storage for SAN or IP SAN. This eliminates application disruption during the copy process and allows customers to avoid duplicating expensive production storage in the production support environment. In the production support environment the solution maintains a current, 100% consistent data image and leverages NetApp Data ONTAP to deliver instantaneous cloning of data sets which consume virtually no incremental storage. Through an easy to use point and click interface customers have a single point of control to manage replication, clone creation and retention for up to 256 clones per NetApp system. These advanced capabilities significantly reduce capacity requirements while removing the operational barriers to delivering on-demand copies of always-current data.

"The combination of Data ONTAP 7G and Topio's TDPS was a natural one," said Patrick Rogers, VP of Product Marketing and Alliances at Network Appliance. "All of our customers are looking for simplified operations and increased data availability. On-demand space efficient cloning from any storage, anywhere is an extremely powerful tool that delivers significant value to almost every business. We are excited to be working with Topio and look forward to sharing our combined expertise with our customers in the future."
