NetApp Wins 2010 WRAP Award from California Integrated Waste Management Board
SUNNYVALE, Calif.-December 16,
2010-As part of the Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP),
the California Integrated Waste Management Board recently honored
NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) with a 2010 WRAP award. The award recognizes
NetApp's corporate waste and recycling program, and achievements in
minimizing environmental impact through the conscientious use of
products, activities, and services. This is the fourth consecutive
year that NetApp has received a WRAP award.
News Facts
The California Integrated Waste Management Board honored NetApp
for:
- Diverting over 1.3 million pounds of materials from landfill in
2009, including over 450,000 pounds of construction materials and
over 7,000 pounds of packaging foams
- Prevention and reuse programs for packaging materials,
electronics, office furniture, office supplies, and landscaping
waste
- Purchasing office supplies with high recycled content, such as
office paper, packaging materials, and janitorial supplies
- Giving preference to environmentally responsible cleaning
supplies, ENERGY STAR- rated items, energy-efficient light bulbs,
and compostable disposables
Award Detail
- This WRAP award is the latest in a series of recent awards for
NetApp's sustainability efforts, including the CPSC Infinity Arrow
award and the SNW Best Practices award in the Energy Efficiency,
Green Computing, and Data Center category.
- NetApp's corporate waste-management program is ISO 14001
certified and eliminates waste from landfills through reducing
consumption, reuse, and recycling.
- As a high-tech company, NetApp places special emphasis on
recycling electronic waste (e-waste), both from operations and
customers at a product's end-of-life. This effort has diverted over
99%, or 2 million pounds, of potential e-waste from landfills since
the start of the program.
- In all, NetApp diverts more than 50% of all waste from
landfills by using recycled, biodegradable, and/or compostable
supplies throughout our offices and facilities.
- NetApp also has a foam-densification process to reduce the
large volume of packaging foams.
