NetApp Ranks 26 on 2009 InformationWeek 500

NetApp's Successful Enterprise Business Intelligence Program Recognized by InformationWeek

SUNNYVALE, Calif.-September 16, 2009- NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that it ranked 26 on the 2009 InformationWeek 500. The ranking was revealed at a gala awards ceremony as part of the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California on September 14, 2009. NetApp ranked number three in the information technology industry.

"NetApp's recognition on the InformationWeek 500 list is a testament to the success of our enterprise business intelligence (EBI) program and the IT team that made it happen," said Marina Levinson, senior vice president and chief information officer, NetApp. "The new EBI system is a great example of IT innovation that has dramatically improved the way we use information to support our company's strategic decision making."

NetApp's high ranking in the 2009 InformationWeek 500 was based on answers to a detailed application and a submitted essay describing its innovative business technology initiative. The essay highlighted NetApp's multiphase enterprise business intelligence initiative, which alchemizes many disparate data silos into a strategy-enabling analytical intelligence system. The EBI scalable architecture and ease of use have improved visibility into key components of our business and, longer term, will significantly reduce operating costs.

"For over 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology," said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. "Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year's winners and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation."

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, now in its 21st year, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. Top winners have included Conway, Hilton Hotels, Kimberly-Clark, National Semiconductor, and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings because they spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
