Sunnyvale, Calif.-February 18,
2009-NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced NetApp®
SnapManager® 3.0 for use with SAP® solutions, providing
customers with enhanced backup, restore, data protection, and
clone-based system copy creation capabilities for SAP
solution-based environments.
As the amount of business-critical SAP data
continues to grow, customers require a data and storage management
solution that can provide them with the data availability and
protection needed to keep business operations running smoothly.
SnapManager 3.0 has achieved SAP certified integration with the SAP
NetWeaver® Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) component via
the backup and restore tools from SAP (also known as BR*Tools).
This integration enables customers to more fully automate their SAP
data management tasks for increased operational efficiencies and
improved data protection. Furthermore, integration with NetApp
Protection Manager allows storage administrators to set data
protection workflow policies to simplify and standardize SAP
backups, offering improved productivity and streamlined data
protection.
SnapManager 3.0 for use with SAP solutions
provides enhanced data protection by leveraging NetApp
SnapRestore® and Snapshot™ technologies to quickly
execute backups and restores. This allows SAP customers to quickly
and seamlessly restore the database in a matter of seconds rather
than hours for improved data availability. SAP application
development and testing is enhanced through integration with NetApp
FlexClone® technology. As a result, customers are able to
quickly create system copies for development and testing directly
on primary or secondary storage in a matter of minutes, enabling
faster deployment times for new SAP solution implementations,
upgrades, or maintenance patches. SnapManager 3.0 also automates
the execution of customized scripts before or after the cloning
process to specifically suit customer requirements. This reduces
the amount of manual effort needed, saving customers valuable time
that they can apply to other areas of their IT infrastructure.
"The amount of SAP data that we need to
manage is continually growing," said Alberto Guzman, IT manager at
ME Elecmetal, a NetApp customer headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
"Since we deployed NetApp SnapManager for use with SAP solutions,
we have greatly streamlined our backup and restore process,
reducing the time to complete this task from 20 hours down to just
20 minutes."
"SnapManager 3.0 improves productivity and
simplifies the protection and management of SAP data," said Patrick
Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing for NetApp. "By
leveraging several unique NetApp technologies, like Snapshots,
FlexClone, and Protection Manager, customers can simplify their
backup and provisioning procedures, which substantially reduce IT
costs while speeding up time to market. These proof points
exemplify our commitment to providing customers who have SAP data
with the industry's most effective data management solutions."
