Network Appliance Gains Market Share in External Storage Market
Sunnyvale, Calif. - June 8, 2004 --
Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), today announced it is
continuing to gain market share in the large external storage
market, which includes storage area networks (SANs),
network-attached storage (NAS), direct-attached storage (DAS), open
systems, and legacy mainframes. According to Gartner's "2Q4 Update:
Global RAID Disk Storage Forecast Scenarios, 2004-2006
report,"1 NetApp was the only company in the top eight
to demonstrate growth both sequentially (7.7%) and year over year
(24.4%). This allowed the company to increase its market share from
4.5% in 2003 to 5.4% in Q1 2004.

business-critical, sophisticated, data-intensive enterprise
applications such as customer relationship management (CRM) and
