Network Appliance and AppIQ Continue Collaboration to Meet Enterprise Customer Needs for Storage Management

Storage Networking World, Phoenix, Ariz. - April 6, 2004 -- AppIQ™, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise software that enables data storage to be managed as an IT utility, and Network Appliance™, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, today announced that AppIQ StorageAuthority™ Suite supports the NetApp® SMI-S Storage Management Initiative Specification conformant provider, which has passed the SNIA Networking Industry Association's (SNIA's) Conformance Testing Program (SNIA-CTP).

The NetApp SMI-S 1.0.2 compliant provider, co-developed by AppIQ and Network Appliance as a result of a previously announced relationship between the companies, is based on the latest version of the SNIA (SMI-S). AppIQ StorageAuthority Suite, AppIQ's award-winning family of integrated SAN management and storage resource management solutions, combined with the NetApp SMI-S 1.0.2 compliant provider and NetApp unified storage systems, offers simplicity, scalability, and affordability for customers seeking improvements in enterprise storage management.

"The AppIQ and Network Appliance relationship demonstrates the level of dedication from both companies to innovate and develop solutions that immediately impact customer needs by incorporating the latest standards such as SMI-S," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of alliance marketing at Network Appliance. "Network Appliance and AppIQ are delivering open, integrated solutions that enable enterprise customers to realize greater business benefit from their storage infrastructures."

Additionally, Network Appliance is a charter member of AppIQ's CIMIQ program, designed to help independent hardware vendors accelerate the development of SMI-S and CIM (Common Information Model)/WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management)-compliant products. AppIQ is a member of the Network Appliance Advantage Developer Program. The technical collaboration that resulted from these relationships led to the development of the NetApp SMI-S interface.

"By collaborating with Network Appliance to develop the NetApp SMI-S 1.0.2 compliant provider, AppIQ is helping ensure that any management application written natively to the SMI-S standard can manage NetApp unified storage systems with ease," said Tom Rose, vice president of marketing, AppIQ. "Since AppIQ StorageAuthority Suite is built on SMI-S and CIM, AppIQ's support for NetApp SMI-S 1.0.2 is a natural evolution. Our partnership with Network Appliance demonstrates AppIQ's continued commitment to delivering software solutions that support all storage technologies on all physical protocols for simpler, more cost-effective management."

Both companies invite customers to preview the integrated solutions at the Interoperability and Solutions Demo at Storage Networking World, April 5-7, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ.
