Network Appliance Wins Australian Technology & Business Magazine's Editor's Choice Award

Sunnyvale, Calif. - March 10, 2004 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, has announced that the NetApp FAS250 unified storage system has won Australian Technology & Business Magazine's coveted 'Editor's Choice' award.

In a detailed comparison between four leading network-attached storage (NAS) offerings reviewed by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology's independent RMIT Test Labs, the NetApp FAS250 outscored its rivals across the four categories of Interoperability, Future-proofing, ROI, and Service.

In determining its Editor's Choice, Australian Technology & Business Magazine evaluated the four offerings against the requirements of a typical company facing a "rapid expansion in its email and other storage needs," and requiring "1TB of total storage in one or two units, with gigabit Ethernet or fibre channel connections." Other areas of importance considered included ease of system management, ease of integration with other systems, design for maximum uptime, and performance.

In determining the winner, the magazine stated, "When considering the scenario the NetApp FAS250 stood out, not only because it was blindingly fast but also because of the special attention that was placed on redundancy. The FAS250 also ships with a comprehensive software suite that will help you manage and easily integrate with current systems."
