Network Appliance and Princeton Softech Join Forces on ILM

Princeton, N.J. - January 26, 2004 -- Princeton Softech, the market leader in enterprise database archiving, and Network Appliance (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise storage solutions, today announced a marketing and technology alliance that will add database archiving to the Network Appliance™ information lifecycle management (ILM) portfolio. Princeton Softech's Active Archiving software has been integrated with NetApp® SnapLock™ solutions for the NearStore® and FAS storage platforms. Both companies will market the joint solutions to enterprise customers looking to address regulatory compliance requirements, application performance, data management challenges, and operational cost efficiencies in the area of structured data.

"Information lifecycle management strategies must address the requirements of all types of enterprise data, including that of business-critical ERP and CRM applications," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Alliances, Network Appliance. "NetApp and Princeton Softech are bringing together industry-leading storage infrastructure and database archiving solutions to provide comprehensive ILM for our mutual customers."

"ILM is top of mind for IT professionals, due to the exponential growth of data and the need to retain and access it in order to meet regulatory compliance requirements," said Lisa Cash, CEO and president of Princeton Softech. "We are excited to combine our deep expertise in complex relational databases and enterprise applications with NetApp leadership in network storage systems and services to help our customers address their pressing data management and cost efficiency objectives."

The archiving of application-specific structured data residing in enterprise production databases is a critical component of a comprehensive ILM solution. Princeton Softech's enterprise-wide Active Archiving platform, including integrated out-of-the-box ERP and CRM application-specific solutions, archives inactive, structured application data to the most cost-effective storage medium while ensuring easy access on demand. Active Archiving provides the following key benefits for customers:

Improves application performance and availability

Enhances cost efficiency of storage infrastructure

Enables organizations to implement an enterprise-wide archiving platform to address long-term data retention and other regulatory compliance obligations for fixed-content database information originating in Oracle® E-Business, PeopleSoft, ClarifyCRM, and vertical market and homegrown applications

The NetApp SnapLock compliance solution provides online data archival and long-term protection capabilities through its WORM (write once, read many) feature. SnapLock combined with NearStore or FAS systems provides enterprises with an attractive and wide range of NetApp compliance storage platforms in terms of capacity, performance, and cost.

"Enterprise IT professionals continue to look for proven solutions that will enable them to improve application performance and extract more value out of their storage infrastructure even while they address the increasing demands related to regulatory compliance," said Peter Gerr, analyst at the Enterprise Storage Group. "The collaboration of NetApp and Princeton Softech will provide solutions to customers that address these critical issues."
