Commvault and Network Appliance Expand Partnership to Include Enhanced Data Protection and Compliance Solutions

Oceanport, N.J. and Sunnyvale, Calif. - November 19, 2003 -- CommVault® Systems, Inc., a provider of unified enterprise data management solutions, and Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions announced an expansion of their strategic partnership agreement to deliver disk-based data protection and compliance solutions. CommVault and NetApp are creating sales, marketing and development programs to assist customers in the deployment of solutions specifically to lower costs and maximize storage efficiencies by leveraging the NetApp® NearStore™ platform and CommVault® QiNetix™ software. To date, CommVault and Network Appliance have successfully integrated many technology solutions to deliver end-to-end protection and availability for business-critical data. As part of this expanded agreement, the two companies will further integrate their products to help customers protect data and make it readily available if regulatory or compliance needs arise by using NetApp SnapVault™ and SnapLock™ technologies.

CommVault offers Galaxy™ backup and recovery software along with QiNetix DataMigrator™, a hierarchical storage management (HSM) and e-mail migration product, and DataArchiver™ archiving product, to fully utilize NetApp NearStore™ as a fast access storage consolidation platform. By providing integrated solutions, enabling shared storage, and automating movement of data between disk and tape, local and remote, CommVault and NetApp are allowing customers to take full advantage of CommVault's QiNetix™ software suite. The combined savings provided by these solutions results in an immediate, positive impact to customer operational costs.

"The theme of our business is liquidity-helping investors of all sizes move in and out of the markets quickly and efficiently," said Rich Capellano, head of systems administration, Susquehanna International Group. "Rapid recovery from any potential data loss or corruption is obviously of paramount concern to us. After examining products from a number of competing vendors, we selected CommVault Galaxy to replace Legato. We found that QiNetix software easily manages our sizeable global installed base of UNIX, Windows and NAS platforms seamlessly through one interface. The integration with QiNetix and Network Appliance NearStore™ provides fast, reliable data protection and access to business critical data."

"CommVault is excited to expand our partnership with Network Appliance," said Dave West, vice president of business development, CommVault Systems. "With this agreement, we can deliver the best technology to meet customers' data protection and regulatory compliance requirements, reassuring them that each piece of data will be stored and recovered quickly, in the most cost-effective and efficient way-issues that are paramount to the success of their business."

"We are pleased with our ongoing success with CommVault and are eager to take it to the next level," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of marketing, Network Appliance. "Our customers are always looking to reduce costs and maximize efficiencies, while keeping data highly available. This agreement will leverage disk technology to lower our customers' costs and meet market demand for unmatched data protection and high availability. Together, we will deliver an optimal model to do this."
