Network Appliance Strengthens Lead in NAS Market

Sunnyvale, Calif. - March 27, 2003 -- According to the most recent storage market share report issued by Gartner Dataquest this week, Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) continued to strengthen its position as the NAS (network-attached storage) market leader, achieving 37.4% of revenues in 2002. NetApp also led the market for total NAS terabytes shipped, with 41.5%. These figures confirm Network Appliance's winning approach to solving customer challenges for storage consolidation, business continuance, and data center storage needs with an appliance architecture that provides maximum performance, simplicity, and scalability.

"These results demonstrate Network Appliance's ability to address our customers' needs in a market where they require increased functionality, scalability and bulletproof reliability while continuing to lower their total cost of ownership," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of marketing at Network Appliance. "Remaining the number one NAS provider presents NetApp with the customer access and market strength to continue expanding our portfolio. This enables us to address even broader enterprise needs for a unified storage system, nearline storage, iSCSI consolidation solutions, and value-added software to make data management and protection simple yet incredibly robust."
