StorageTek and Network Appliance Team to Deliver Proven Backup and Restore Solutions

All currently offered StorageTek tape libraries are now qualified for backup and restore functionality for Network Appliance Filers including Network Appliance NearStore Solution configurations. Users may therefore enjoy the cost-effective storage capacity and data management benefits of Network Appliance NearStore solutions and the proven, secure data backup and restore functionality of StorageTek tape automation systems.

This joint effort delivers a complete data storage solution that meets the needs of all network storage environments. The combination of StorageTek automated tape products and Network Appliance NearStore R100 provides customers with easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage solutions that scale quickly to meet the ever-growing demands of customers at a competitive price point.

In addition, customers now enjoy an even wider choice in tape drive technology. The StorageTek T9840A, T9840B, and T9940 tape drives have been qualified using both fibre channel and SCSI interfaces in Network Appliance environments. Other tape drive technologies that have been qualified include the Seagate LTO, IBM LTO SCSI, IBM LTO Fibre Channel, Quantum DLT 7000/8000 and Quantum Super DLT.
