First Anniversary of Partnership: Network Appliance Expands Collaboration with SAP

Sunnyvale, CA - March 12, 2002 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of network storage solutions, today announced it will expand its collaboration with SAP AG to develop advanced storage architectures that lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase returns on investments for enterprise customers. This announcement marks the first anniversary of the companies' partnership and further demonstrates the ongoing work between Network Appliance and SAP. Over the past 12 months, the two companies have delivered simplified, enterprise solutions for corporations worldwide including Kloeckner Desma, Kuka, and San Diego Processing.

As part of this ongoing relationship, Network Appliance has become one of the first storage technology partner to be included in the mySAP™ Advanced Infrastructure Program, and is focused on developing solutions that cater to customers' evolving requirements. Under this program, Network Appliance and SAP will undertake a number of projects, including a collaboration with IBM related to DB2® to develop integrated solutions that will utilize high-performance technologies like InfiniBand and DAFS (Direct Access File System) to deliver greater throughput and increased data availability at attractive price points. SAP and Network Appliance will also build network storage blueprints that simplify storage infrastructures and address specific customer requirements to increase availability, improve disaster recovery, provide greater manageability and cost-effective archiving of database information, and strengthen overall solution performance.
