Sunnyvale, Calif. - April 7, 2004 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, today announced the results of a competitive analysis report conducted by VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies, Inc., in which the performance of the NetApp® F825c high-availability storage system was compared with that of the Dell/EMC CX600 storage server. According to the report, the NetApp F825c performed up to 3.89 times faster than the competitors tested, depending on configuration and workload.

The competitive analysis testing focused on the random-access workloads that online applications typically encounter in a simulated online transaction processing (OLTP) environment and was completed in both Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage networks. Although the two systems had similar disk storage configurations, the NetApp F825c outperformed the Dell/EMC CX600 by more than 2X. Specifically, the VeriTest report stated that the NetApp F825c was 2.27 times faster than the Dell/EMC CX600 when configured for RAID-0/1 on a 50/50 4KB random read/write workload and 3.89 times faster when configured for RAID-0/1 on random writes.
