Cofounder of Network Appliance to Meet with Members of Congress and Their Staff to Discuss Data Security Legislation
What: Dave Hitz, cofounder and
executive vice president of Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP),
will visit Washington, DC, to discuss data security legislation
with members of Congress and their staff. The company supports
legislative provisions that would encourage the use of data
encryption to thwart security breaches, thus protecting consumers
from identity theft. Additionally, the company supports federal
preemption of state data security laws to ensure national
uniformity. NetApp has been tracking House and Senate bills related
to enhancing data security and reducing identity theft and hopes to
use this trip to encourage Congress to pass meaningful legislation
this year.
