Xceed Selects Network Appliance™ Unified Storage Running Oracle Real Application Clusters to Deploy Mission-Critical Customer Contact Center Application
Oracle NetApp Center of Excellence helps Xceed Meet High Availability Requirements

Sunnyvale, Calif. - October 22, 2003 -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise storage solutions, today announced that Xceed, the largest and most sophisticated customer contact center in the Middle East, has deployed NetApp® unified storage systems to run its mission-critical Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) environment. Xceed chose NetApp storage in order to achieve the high availability and scalability it requires when supporting all of it data, regardless of the application. Xceed has standardized on Oracle RAC and NetApp unified storage architecture to realize the performance and TCO benefits associated with NetApp's highly scalable and simple to manage storage system. To ensure that Xceed can easily restore and revert to copies of its Oracle database, developers can now use NetApp Snapshot™ technology and SnapRestore® software to save point-in-time copies during testing or upgrade operations.

The Oracle on NetApp CoE helped Xceed successfully build and deploy a global trading platform using the Oracle Database on NetApp storage. The CoE is staffed with both Oracle and Network Appliance™ resources and is designed to help customers deploy Oracle on NetApp based solutions using common best practices to improve time-to-productivity.

"We have great confidence in the reliability and ease of manageability of the NetApp architecture, so when NetApp offered us a unified storage solution that could meet our requirements while integrating seamlessly into our existing network, the decision was easy," said Khaled Imbaby, data center manager at Xceed. "Within the first two hours of installation, all our teams were up and running."

"NetApp enables Xceed to achieve Oracle database consolidation, data-mirroring for business-continuance, performance virtualization, and near-instantaneous backup and recovery of an entire Oracle database quickly, efficiently, and with no service disruption," said Phil Williams vice president, Global Alliances at Network Appliance. "Xceed is a real-life example of how customers can cost-effectively and easily deploy Oracle on NetApp solutions throughout the enterprise."

"Xceed was able to deploy Oracle and NetApp solutions quickly and efficiently," states Paul Cross, vice president of Technology Strategy and Architecture, Oracle Consulting. "NetApp and Oracle deliver best practice and implementation services for customers so they can get their mission-critical applications up and running quickly."
