NetApp Launches £1 Million Challenge to Slash Storage by 50%
LONDON, UK - 7 September
2009 NetApp, (NASDAQ: NTAP) today promised up to £1
million in NetApp® storage hardware, software and services to
a qualifying new customer to reduce their storage usage by 50% in a
virtualised environment.
To prove the value of its storage efficiency and the authenticity
of its Virtualisation Guarantee Programme, NetApp is putting
forward up to £1 million in technology and services. One UK
business, that is not currently a customer, will have the
opportunity to implement up to £1 million of NetApp's
solutions into a VMware®, Citrix or Microsoft® virtual
environment. The impact NetApp delivers to the business as a result
will be independently measured and published.
"We're confident that customers will use 50%
less storage with NetApp, so we're willing to put our money where
our mouth is with the £1 Million Virtualisation Challenge,"
said Nick Thurlow, vice president, EMEA sales at NetApp. "NetApp
storage-efficiency technologies such as thin provisioning,
deduplication, RAID-DP®, and Snapshot™ have proven to
help customers improve performance and realise unprecedented space
savings in their virtual infrastructures.
Thurlow continues, "In today's cost cutting
economy, this is a great opportunity for a UK business to address
its storage challenges, receive £1 million of investment with
our thanks and directly measure the impact of NetApp on their
business."
The NetApp Virtualisation Guarantee, launched
in September 2008, is designed to enable customers to maximise the
value of their storage investment and states businesses will use
50% less storage in their VMware®, Citrix or Microsoft®
virtual environments with NetApp compared to traditional
storage.
As part of the £1 million challenge, a
NetApp appointed analyst will independently benchmark and measure
the impact of NetApp's storage following implementation and publish
the results.
