LONDON, UK January 22, 2009
- NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) today was ranked by FORTUNE
magazine as number one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For."
This is the second year it has achieved a top-10 ranking and the
third consecutive year it has been named in the top 15. An
egalitarian culture, salary, unique benefits, and a down-to-earth
management style are attributes that have catapulted the company to
the number-one spot for 2009. NetApp chairman and CEO Dan
Warmenhoven believes this success is a result of the company's
continued commitment to embracing the values of what he calls a
"model company."
"We are excited and honoured to be on the top
of FORTUNE's prestigious list. Our employees are the heart
of our company and the strength of our global culture," said
Warmenhoven. "That culture values teamwork, productivity,
leadership, and innovation. It helps us create bigger customer
breakthroughs, retain top talent, and deliver greater shareholder
returns. I am very proud of what we have accomplished - and what
our employees cherish every day: a collaborative workplace that
achieves great results."
To pick the "100 Best Companies to Work For,"
FORTUNE works with Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of
The Great Place to
Work® Institute to conduct the most extensive employee
survey in corporate America. This year, 353 companies participated
in the survey. Two-thirds of a company's score are based on the
Institute's survey, which is sent to a minimum of 400 randomly
selected employees. The remaining third is based on a company's
responses to the Culture Audit Questionnaire, which asks detailed
questions about demographics; pay and benefits; and open-ended
questions on philosophy, communication; and more.
FORTUNE magazine compiles and
selects the "100 Best Companies to Work For" list every year from a
pool of eligible U.S.-based applicants. More details on this year's
ranking and process can be found online at http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/
and in the February 2, 2009, issue of FORTUNE, available
on newsstands on January 26, 2009, and at www.fortune.com on January 22,
2009.
